Spend hours dry fire practicing before going to the range. Consider this, dry fire at least 50 times in practice for each live round that you will be shooting. Clear your space of all ammo and get to know you firearm. If you aren't good at pulling the trigger on an empty pistol, it's guaranteed that you won't do better with live fire practice.
